At Olympic Judo Dojo, we are dedicated to preserving and teaching the traditions of judo while fostering an environment of respect, discipline, and personal growth. Our instructors bring decades of combined experience in training, competition, and teaching. They are committed to helping students of all ages and skill levels develop strong techniques, confidence, and character through the study of judo.

  • 1970 La. National Championship Trials Goal Medalist & Grand Champion
  • 1970 North Eastern Shufu Judo Yudanshakai Championship 154 LBs Gold Medalist
  • 1972 All S. E. Judo Championship Gold Medalist & Grand Champion at 154 Lbs. V Grand Championships are no longer held, but back then the gold medalist of each weight division would fight each other to determine the “Grand Champion” of the tournament!
  • 1973 All S. E. Judo Championship Gold Medalist, 176 LBs
  • 1974 All S. E. Judo Championship Gold Medalist & Grand Champion at 154 Lbs.

1966 Batsugun Promotion to Shodan (Only awarded in completion):


  • At the 1966 YMCA National Judo Championships, Nicholson, at 15 years old, took gold in both the junior & the 139 lb. Senior Men’s division in the same night. The Batsugun was awarded after defeating 2 Nidans, 3 Shodans, and 5 additional senior opponents. He also had 7 wins in the junior division.

Justin Bush is an accomplished judoka and dedicated instructor who has trained under several highly respected sensei at multiple dojos. Through years of disciplined training and competition, he has developed a reputation for strong technical ability and a deep commitment to the traditions and values of judo.


Mr. Bush has achieved significant success in regional competition. His accomplishments include being a three-time Louisiana and Mississippi State Champion in the 81–90 kg division, a two-time Gulf Coast Judo Open Champion, and a Louisiana State Champion.


In addition to his competitive achievements, Mr. Bush is passionate about teaching and mentoring students. As an instructor, he focuses on helping students develop sound technique while emphasizing the foundational principles of judo—confidence, discipline, respect, and perseverance.

About Dr. Sanichiro Yoshida

Dr. Yoshida — Sensei Emeritus / USA Olympic Coach

Dr. Yoshida is a native of Tokyo, Japan. He attended the prestigious Azabu High School before continuing his academic studies at Keio University, one of Japan’s most respected institutions of higher learning.


Dr. Yoshida later pursued an academic career and currently serves as a professor at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike for his scholarship and dedication to education.


In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Yoshida has made lasting contributions to the martial art of judo through his many years of instruction and mentorship. In recognition of his leadership, service, and commitment to the development of his students, he holds the honorary title of Sensei Emeritus. Through his teaching, Dr. Yoshida has helped instill the core values of judo—discipline, respect, humility, and personal development—in generations of practitioners.
