And yes, Judo builds character, courage, courtesy, respect, and discipline but these terms are easily tossed around in all martial arts.

Anyone can display these attributes when things are going well.
But for these attributes to be truly “ingrained” they must be displayed & sustained under times of stress. Hence the need for trained skills to be tested in competition!

Judo can provide a competitive but safe environment for training one to maintain those attributes under stress. Thus safely testing one’s metal during hard times & allowing one to learn from mistakes. Then one can return to training focused on these newly found shortcomings.

This type of training allows one to endure no matter the “apparent outcome”. This process can then be transfer to all life's struggles thus truly building character, courage, courtesy, respect, and discipline!

The principles of Judo as set forth by Dr. Jigoro Kano, such as "Maximum Efficiency" and "Mutual Welfare and Benefit", can also be used in our dealings with others in life. The ultimate goal in Judo is to develop oneself to the maximum extent possible, always striving for perfection, so that you can contribute something of value to the world.

The goal of our instructors is to help you get what you want and what you need out of Judo, and to put back into Judo what you can.

As a consequence, we have a Judo club that welcomes those studying Judo for any of its multitude of benefits.  Most are interested in several, if not all, of the aspects of Judo. 

Judo training is encouraged regardless of age, background or physical condition or gender.
